So here we are in Riva: perched on the beautiful lake Garda, sipping strong Italian coffee and waiting for the wind to kick, which it always does. Every morning is uncannily placid. Every afternoon, around one o’clock, the wind comes rushing down the mountains and blows a solid 18knots until sundown. Perfect training conditions.
The event that we are training for is the OLYMPIC GARDA – EUROLYMP, ‘the only Italian stop on the European Olympic Tour. Eurolymp attracts the best of the Olympic classes in preparation for the London Olympics, 2012. Racing at its highest technical level is guaranteed in a week of prestigious international competition.’
The regatta starts on Wednesday the 11th May and finishes on Sunday the 15th. Closer to the event I will post the web address so you can follow the racing. Some exciting photos will definitely produced as 49ers + lots of wind = drama!
